More Than 600 People Celebrate
as The Bird Turns 40

Over 600 friends of the Albatross Pub turned up on Thursday night, April 8, to celebrate the beloved bar's 40th Anniversary. Newcomers to the bar mingled with patrons who remembered drinking there over 30 years ago (and wore homemade "alumni" buttons to that effect).
The crowd enjoyed a bountiful buffet of cold cuts and salads, and boogied to live music by Bluegrass Intentions while elegant goodie-packed gift bags and baskets were given away in a random drawing all night long; (favorites were the Fat Tire basket complete with Fat Tire lip balm–does it taste like beer?–and A's game VIP box seats with parking).
A few dogs (on leashes) attended the party as well, as is the Albatross tradition since current owners Wendy and Linda took over. Previous owners, brothers Val and Bob Johnson held court at a table in the art gallery, catching up with longtime regulars including Jules Spillman of the "Family Jules" used furniture store. And many enjoyed the old time drink specials with Rolling Rock bottles for $1.00 and Anchor Steam on tap at $1.50 per pint!
